For 1080p it's only a 16 pixel difference. These are my cables…seem like very high quality. Apparently on a 100' screen the height difference between 2.35 and 2.40 is only about a quarter of an inch. I do get a nice picture an’all, but I do have the milky-grey sheen….The ol’ Epson did not have this sheen to the same degree. All confirmed by my friend who loaned me his ub9000. I have doubledoubledouble checked my settings on pj and player….and checked again….all is set correctly. I will try to snap a few photos of what I am seeing, but as you know, it is VERY hard to see the problem when you arent seeing the ACTUAL picture. Re-confirmed by what the player is actually sending, when you press ‘picture info’ on Pana remote. I am certain the pj is getting 4k/hdr/bt2020, as it indicates this when you press the ‘info’ button in the menu. The hdmi cable that goes from processor to the Sony pj is a brand new 48gbps optical hdmi cable. My cables are brand new 48gbps hdmi bought from Monoprice. Beer anyone?Īrchibald1…thanks for chiming in. Of course resolution is awesome….I dunno maybe its my old eyes foolin’ me. The Sony projects really nice 3d images and film. The only area where the Sony is really better than the Epson is 3D. And YES, I have checked all the HDR sertings.on or off.with the Sony pj. The film looks much, much better with the measly Epson……running the normal bluray disc….really saturated colors and deep black space. I dunno…maybe I am nitpicker or not very good at setting up(i have done this many times).Ī good example of the big differences compared with Epson is the 4k/bluray disc of Apollo 11. I have used multiple players…from a ub9000 to a ub420 to a Sony x700. Its is really distracting.īlack levels are not as good as the old Epson…definitely! My old Epson 5030ub did not hve this sheen. It has a grey sheen (just like lcd tv’s) that I just cant get rid of. I have really played around with it….all settings, adjustments, etc……I am still not blown away by the picture. I couldn't find much advice from Elite screens website so wondering if any AVS users have had experience with this type of screen.I bought the 290es (euro 325es). Note: I started researching a bit and saw some negative experiences with the A1080P2 material from Elite Screens and the moire effect. I do have some work cut out for me in terms of potentially relocating a wall switch and a ceiling fan that is in the middle of the room, but am trying to DIY as much as I can due to budget constraints. It is relatively shielded from ambient light due to having shades. My room is approximately 17 ft by 13 ft (screen will go on 13ft wall). I started to use projector central's throw distance calculator to estimate placement of the projector, and I'm now in the process of figuring out screen placement. I started assembling what is the beginning of a relatively humble home theater setup primarily for watching movies. New to the forum and also new to Home Theater / Projection.
